Hey everyone,

I thought I would do a quick post about traffic. I have always struggled with this section just getting the odd hit every day, but just recently I have got a regular flow of traffic to my websites just from a few simple techniques. I think I should share these little tips with you my readers.

I have been going round to all the successful internet marketers blogs and sites and providing value to their readers by commenting on their posts. This is what is known as oil rig hopping, I haven’t had much traffic from this yet but the traffic I have had have signed up to my mailing list a lot more than from anywhere else. I will be continuing to do this on a daily basis as it also helps to get myself out there helping people as well as building a relationship with the more successful marketers for potential future JV’s. Obviously if you are in a different niche you want to find blogs related to your niche for this to work.

Forums

I have also been finding the internet marketing forums an extremely valuable source of traffic. The warrior forum is the best one I have found. There is so much valuable information there and there is almost always over 1000 people online so you are guaranteed someone is going to see your post. If you just respond to someone else’s post with some value you will see traffic. However if you create a post that starts to get people talking you will see so much traffic you won’t know what to do with it (apart from monetize it).

A tip for finding these forums for your niche is to just google your main keyword or your niche followed by forum. Have a look around and see how busy it is then sign up and start to contribute. Just put one link in your signature and make sure you check the forum rules as some sites don’t allow linking.

Videos

Another great source I have recently found is the YouTube stats function. If you click on the number of views on any video on YouTube, you get a breakdown of where the viewers have come from. When you find one that isn’t part of YouTube you want to head to that website and see where you can provide value that will be seen by the majority of the traffic on that site. I think as long as you are providing value and not just spamming your URL to every site you find you will get a good supply of eager traffic.

Obviously you can create your own videos for YouTube and embed them on your site and this should bring you a lot more traffic if you have the right keywords on your video. A little tip for these keywords is to find a related video that has a high number of views and use the same or similar keywords as them. As Google owns YouTube any site with YouTube videos relating to the same keywords is going to move up the rankings a lot quicker.

Social Media

I have been told that Twitter is another very good source of traffic but I haven’t looked into this yet as I have been busy working on all the other areas! I can recommend Alex Jeffreys Tweeting With You product. It’s a free eBook with a video guide upsell I believe. You can get it from www.tweetingwithyou.com/ and as I said before, the book is free!

Facebook is another great source of traffic if you respect your prospects. You can either market using groups and fan pages or just your main profile. Some people build up new profiles depending on their niche and then have related groups and pages linked to that profile. To be honest there are so many ways to market on facebook I could write a book about it (and probably will one day). If you want a good book to start with though my friend Glen Kirkham has laid out some of the best practices for facebook marketing in his book facebook fortunes click here to get FREE access now! He now has over 1 million friends all targeted to different niches that he can market to, so you can already see the power of what he is doing!

At the moment I am not doing anything to get any paid traffic as I am getting enough free traffic from these techniques. I will be starting to use twitter a lot more as I can see the value of this place and I am not really marketing to facebook at the moment, just sending out a quick message on my wall letting people know that I have a new post up. If you want to know how not to market to facebook check out my friend Cher Pearce’s blog post here.

I am just in the early days here but already this site has got more traffic over the past month than my old site has had in 3 years so I must be doing something right!

Anyway feel free to share your tips in the comment section or ask me some questions. I do try to answer all of you even if it might not be immediately!

Thanks for reading again

Simon
