Hey everyone,

This may be a REALLY BAD IDEA this close to Christmas but I have set myself a challenge.

You see why this could go wrong now!! At least I might have some work at Christmas dressing up as Jesus or some other bearded Christmas entity…

So I am going to start the first week by writing some articles on getting free traffic to your site and publish these to article directories. Each one of these articles links back to my site telling people about the wealth of information here! These articles will then be published all around the net and people can use them on their sites too. This is a great free way of building up back links to your site and it also positions you as somewhat of an authority on the subject you are writing on.

I will also create my first Squidoo lens… This should be interesting as I still don’t really know what these are. I have just been told that they are a really good way of getting yourself out there so to speak. I will probably do a follow up post about how to setup a Squidoo lens with some early feedback on how good it is.

I think that most of this week will see me signing up to new forums and getting more active in the ones I am already a member. I have already had some great results from my posts in some of the main internet marketing forums. It always gives me a good feeling inside as well as I am generally helping people when I post in forums. I look for questions from people that are at a lower level than me and answer their question as well as I can.

An important thing to remember with forums is to make sure you read their rules about posting into the forum. Some forums don’t allow links in the post and some don’t allow links in the signature. You want to make sure you can post a link somewhere in your response. I personally prefer a plain link back to my blog but if the question is more specifically about a product I have I will link them through to my squeeze page for a free book on that subject (with an upsell of course!)

I think I’ll leave it there for now but I’ll keep you posted on how my traffic generation goes and I’ll put up an early booking form for your favourite Christmas bearded fella!
